IOR: L/MAR/C/716 - Indian Navy. Volunteers (Cadets). Printed form of oath with
signatures in each case (1838-54)
This is one of
three volumes covering 1838 to 1858. The earlier volume (715) gives dates of
rank and names ships with dates of sailing; and the latter (717) relates to
captains’ clerks.
The neat,
hand-written alphabetical index is at the front of this volume. The vast
majority of these appointments are on specifically printed forms. The actual
entries are in chronological order and on some additional info relating to
nominations and such like are given in pencil and/or ink.
